Career in Osteopathy video

The Institute of Ostaopathy (iO) is the proffessional membership body for osteopaths. They work to support, unite, develop, and promote the osteopathic profession for the improvement of public health and patient care. The Institute is proud to represent two-thirds of osteopaths in the United Kingdom.

The iO wanted to reach a new generation of potential osteopaths and demonstrate to them the benefits that come along with a career in osteopathy. Kathryn Rowe commissioned Taurid Media to deliver a fast-paced, catchy video that would appeal to 18-22 year-olds as well as hit all of the key points that they wanted to convey.

“It is important to note that this work was undertaken during UK lockdown and so there was no option of on-set filming or photography, so it was decided that it would be a blend of animated image with motion typography. This idea was put forward by Taurid Media as we had succumbed to delaying production due to the pandemic. A time where we needed it most” – Kathryn Rowe | Marketing & Communication Officer for iO

Taurid Media facilitated 3 scripting sessions in which Kathryn and her team outlined the key marketing message of the video, while Taurid Media provided incite into how the scripted word would appear on screen and made suggestions based on what they were trying to achieve. It was agreed that the messaging needed to be short, crisp and action based. Once both sides were happy with the script, we progressed on to storyboarding sessions.

To save time and give the client a good visualisation, Taurid Media implemented the idea of motion story boards (also known as animatics), this presents each section of the video in a semi animated form. It gave Kathryn and her team a clear indication of how long the video would be. We were immediately able to identify areas that needed cutting and images that needed changing. Once this phase was complete our Motion Designer Kyal Cundall was able to work his magic and create the finished piece.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Kyal on this project, he really helped us to generate an engaging video that we are proud to have live on our site”  – Kathryn Rowe
